Newborn Photography for New Parents

What was your first thought when you saw your baby?
Heather (Mother): My labor was long and exhausting- the anticipation to meet Noah was intense. I remember thinking and praying he was healthy as more and more doctors and nurses joined us in the room towards the end. I was overcome with so many emotions when I first saw him that I do not even remember a thought rather the feelings. It was the most intense joy and love I have ever felt. I was crying, Brandon was crying- there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. Once the overwhelming feelings lessened and I could think I remember thinking he was the most beautiful and precious little love and how blessed I was to be his mother.
Brandon (Father): So many things were running through my head. I was feeling so overwhelmed with emotions- excited, overjoyed, happy. I felt relieved that he was healthy. He was mine and I remember thinking I will love, cherish and protect him forever.
Heather: Noah was born on 9/9 and we had a newborn session on 9/27. I remember watching Kara work her magic and being in awe of the thought she put into each shot. Kara was so gentle and patient with our precious newborn that we felt comfortable and were able to relax and enjoy the session. I also remember Noah puked on Kara’s throw pillow- she giggled and made me feel less embarrassed about the situation- having a son of her own she was able to relate.

These new parents are so lucky to have such a handsome little guy! Noah is adorable!

What was your favorite part of our time together?
Our favorite part about the session together was really the entire experience from beginning to end. The studio was inviting. It was nice and warm so Noah was comfortable through the outfit and prop changes. Kara and Meg had a high level of professionalism. Kara brought her creative vision to the session, but also allowed us to share our vision and have a voice in different choices throughout the session. We wanted to get brave and hold Noah in his birthday suit while in white clothing- it turned out beautifully. Kara’s experience and knowledge on newborn photography shined through. She had a few tricks up her sleeve, for example, the “shush” machine she used to keep Noah calm and asleep- we actually went out and bought one after the session- ha! Kara was patient and worked to get the absolute perfect shots of our newborn. She truly captured his features perfectly. Watching our son being photographed was the best knowing these photos would be a cherished keepsake to be enjoyed, shared and passed down.

How was your experience with us? Did you have any worries prior?
How was your experience having your newborn photographed? Were you nervous or worried before? How did it turn out? We did a lot of research on different newborn photographers because not only did we want gorgeous photographs of our newborn, we wanted them done by someone who would treat our son with a gentleness, kindness, and care. Other parents shared these were some of the qualities Kara possessed and they were absolutely correct. Being able to sit down with Kara months before the newborn session also took a lot of the worry away as she instantly made me feel comfortable- like I have known her forever. Kara and Meg handled our bundle of joy with TLC -putting us first time parents at ease.
What advice would you give someone interested in newborn photography?
It is worth the investment! If you can go to Kara Reese Photography- I highly recommend it.
