Laury joined Kara Reese Photography in early 2024 and is our behind-the-scenes queen and the first point of contact for many of our portrait inquiries! Laury is the one who calls inquiries when they reach out to us, books them in, sets up the studio for our portrait sessions, makes sure our clients have refreshments in hand and that their outfits are steamed and looking picture-perfect, and who takes behind-the-scenes content for our social media channels. Laury has a knack for making all of our clients feel comfortable and confident! We can't wait for you to meet her.
About Kara Krause, owner of Kara Reese Photography
Based in Waukesha, Wisconsin, Kara lives with her high school sweetheart husband, two sons, and rescued dog (a German Shepherd / Great Pyrenees mix). Kara is one who discovered early on that the creative world of photography was the path she wanted to pursue. Kara blended her soon-evolved expertise in newborn, headshot, high school senior, family portrait and boudoir portrait artistry with exceptional customer service to launch Kara Reese Photography, and has been in business over 15 years as of 2025.
In her free time, Kara enjoys weightlifting, drinking "dirty chai" lattes, reading psychological thrillers, and watching shows like Grey's Anatomy and The Office.
Kara is a member of Professional Photographers of America, the Wisconsin PPA, and is also an active member and board member of the Waukesha Rotary Club. She also serves as the Wisconsin Area Coordinator for Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, an organization that provides free remembrance portraits to families suffering the loss of a baby. Kara has won international awards and recognition for her work and was also inducted into the Kettle Moraine High School Alumni Trailblazer Hall of Fame in 2025.
